A place where little stars can have Big dreams.
Curtain Call Stage School provides children with professional training in dance, speech and drama and singing. Students are encouraged to learn all three disciplines in a fun atmosphere where nurturing talent, encouraging creativity and self expression are our top priorities.
All of the teachers at Curtain Call are fully qualified experts, who’s aim is to teach the disciplines of theatre in a creative and fun environment. And the result is confident and happy children.
Students are encouraged to progress in speech and drama and musical theatre exams (L.A.M.D.A.).
At Curtain Call we encourage children to learn all three of the disciplines needed for theatre, Speech & Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre.
Tots – This is a fun class of song and dance where children learn early stage training in a very fun and exciting way. They learn action songs from Disney, Hans Christian Anderson and popular music to develop musical awareness. They then learn small dance routines and warm-up exercises to begin rhythm and flexibility. We invite the parents to watch at the end of each term to see how much progress their children are making.
Dance – Students learn the styles of modern, hip hop and musical theatre dance routines usually geared towards a theatrical performance. As the children develop further, we add exercises to develop muscle strength and flexibility. Technique is taught on a weekly basis and lots of encouragement is given to all students.
Drama – This is a fun class which always begins with a physical warm-up. We move on to drama activities to teach the skills of mime, improvisation and role play. Script work is done in preparation for shows and emphasis is placed on diction, voice and movement. All students are encouraged to partake in L.A.M.D.A. exams but these are optional. Junior students work on short poems.
Singing – At Curtain Call, all students learn voice production, harmony, group singing pitch, rhythm and all other vocal techniques. Private singing classes (in groups no more than six) benefit from more intensive one to one coaching and get the opportunity to perform solo songs in the shows and also progress in their singing exams with L.A.M.D.A.
